District store waits for Covid-19 vaccine; hope to receive in 3-4 days

Aurangabad, April 10:

The stock of Coronavirus vaccine in the district's store is on verge of getting exhausted. The available stock comprised of 400 Covaxin and 750 Covishield vaccines (total 1150). If the supply of fresh stock of vaccine is not made in 3-4 days then the mega vaccination mission, which had been launched in the district, would have to be stopped, it is feared. Meanwhile, the municipal officer of health (MoH) Dr Neeta Padalkar said, " The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation has the stock of vaccine which could be used for two more days."

The state government had supplied 3 lakh Covishield and 22,000 Covaxin to the district, in phases, so far. The store supplies vaccine to the centres. Presently, the administration concern is waiting to receive the fresh stock for the past week. According to officials, the stock of Covaxin is necessary for those beneficiaries who had taken the first dose and now their turn to take the second dose is coming near. Presently, the health administration is reviewing the stock of vaccine available at each vaccination centre.

200 doses from AMC

The Zilla Parishad administration supply vaccines to sub-district and rural hospitals in the district. Besides, the AMC is providing 200 doses of Covishield daily. Meanwhile, 2,280 Covaxin doses are available in our stock, said the civil surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni adding that the district hospital also has a stock of 500 Covishield.

The vaccine is supplied to all the vaccination centres through the district-level store. Presently, there is the availability of 1150 vaccines. The distribution of these vaccines will be made on-demand. Meanwhile, we had placed the demand of vaccination and hope to receive the fresh stock in 3-4 days, said the district vaccination officer Dr Vijay Kumar Wagh.
