Doctor duped of Rs 5 lakh online

Aurangabad, May 6:

A doctor from Paithan who made an online payment for purchasing a Nikon camera online was duped by the cyber fraudsters of Rs 5 lakh. A case has been registered against 12 persons of the Rush Star Company at the Paithan police station.

Rush Star company is registered on Instagram app. Dr Rishikesh Madan Mandhane (30, Opposite Panchayat Samiti, Paithan) booked a Nikon camera on this company’s website. The sales manager and delivery agent of this company took Rs 4,84,900 online from Dr Mandhane stating reasons of stamp duty, excise duty and others. He deposited the amount in several accounts. Later, he inquired with the company for the camera but the company officers told him that he will have to pay Rs 55,000 more and Rs 1,250 per day as the late fees. They told him that he will not get the camera if he does not pay this amounting and will not get any refund. When realized that he has been taken for a ride, Dr Mandhane lodged a complaint at the Paithan police station. PI Kishor Pawar is further investigating the case.
