Aurangabad, April 2:

A salesman of an edible oil company duped a city oil trader of Rs 12,69,865 on the lure of business expansion. A cheating case has been registered against the accused Krishna Vijay Sonpethkar (Ambar Hill, Jatwada Raod, Aurangabad) at the Cidco police station.

According to the details, Vinod Sharadrao Muley started a business of edible oil in the Cidco area. He gained an agency of an oil company from Jalna and used to sell the oil to various traders in the city. After few days, Sonpethkar came to Muley and told him that he is the authorized salesman of the said company and can help him expand his business. He said that he could gain orders for Muley and, on August 22 and 23, 2020 gained two orders amounting to Rs 5,85,825. He then acquired Muley’s confidence and sent the oil consignments to several traders in the rural areas. He had Rs 11,34,040 of these consignments and the old recovery amount outstanding with him. When Muley was constantly persuaded for money, Sonpethkar deposited Rs 4,49,900 online on his account. He said that the amount is of the old consignments and assured that he would pay the remaining amount of Rs 1,35,825 of this consignment soon. Meanwhile, he took an order from an agency at Dharur and asked the agency to deposit Rs 2 lakh on Muley’s account. However, he lied to Muley that this amount is of the old consignment given to Anand Trading Company.

As the agency at Dharur did not receive the oil consignment even after paying money, the owner came to Muley with the police. Muley came to know about the cheating. He gave a cheque to the owner. After realizing that he has been taken for a ride, he lodged a complaint against Sonpethkar at the Cidco police station.
