Engineeering student commits suicide by jumping from building

Aurangabad, March 27:

A first-year engineering girl student of MIT Engineering College committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of the Sharayu Apartment in Satara area on Friday evening. The deceased has been identified as Manisha Bhagwan Shelke (19).

Manisha and her mother were living in a rented house at Sharayu Apartment in Satara area for the past few months. Her father was not staying with them as there was a domestic dispute between him and his wife. They were living separately for the past 17 years and a divorce case is pending in the court. On Friday, Manisha went with her mother to the court during the court hearing. Both of them returned from the court in the evening. Manisha went on the terrace of the building when her mother went inside the flat and jumped from the terrace. She sustained severe head injuries. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital and then to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where the doctors declared her dead at around 8 pm. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Satara police station while constable Sheshrao Chavan is further investigating the case. The reason of the suicide was not known.

Manisha, since childhood lived with her mother and maternal uncle at Cidco, N-2 area. She took admission in the first year in MIT College. As it was difficult to travel to the college, her mother took a rented flat in Satara area near the college.
