ESIC provides Rs 3 crores medical compensation

Aurangabad, Jan 10:

The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has provided the medical compensation to the workers amounting Rs 2,93,85,000 in an year which included the bills of Rs 18.71 lakh of one of the employee.

The workers and their family members are provided medical facilities by the government through ESIC for which the advanced payment is deducted from the salaries of the workers. The workers who need the specialty treatment are even referred to the private hospitals. The government pays the bills for such treatments at private hospitals. An ESIC Hospital with 100 beds is available at Chikalthana MIDC area. Similarly, during emergency help of the private hospitals is also taken for treating the patients. ESIC pays the bills for the treatment to the private hospitals. Last year, 1189 cases were referred to the private hospitals and Rs 3 crores were paid which included a Swine flu patent for whom Rs 18.71 lakh bills have been sanctioned for Bombay Hospital.

Medical superintendent, Dr Vivek Bhosale said, medical compensation to the tune of Rs 3 crores were sanctioned last year while Rs 77 lakh provision has also been made now, he said.
