Ex-solider duped of Rs 5.70L in online fraud

Aurangabad, Nov 24: A retired solider was duped of Rs 5.70 lakh In an online fraud, said the Waluj MIDC police. Victim Begraj Manram Saini (65, Plot number 810, Cidco, Waluj Mahanagar-1) had purchased some household items on the e-commerce website Snapdeal in September. On September 26, he received a call from Alokkumar Singh, claiming to be a representative of Snapdeal.

The caller told Saini that he had won a car while shopping online and asked him to deposit tax amount in the bank for claiming the prize. Delighted Saini transferred different amounts via PhonePe and bank account to the bank account of Alok. However, the latter kept seeking money and also avoided to deliver the car. Realising that he was taken for a ride, Saini met Waluj MIDC PI Madhukar Sawant and narrated the incident. A case has been registered against Alok.
