Family robbed of valuables worth Rs 1.15 lakh at knifepoint

Aurangabad, June 17:

Robbers entered into a house in a posh locality at Khandsari area in Kannad city, threatened the family members with a knife, and made off with gold jewelry and two mobile phones amounting to Rs 1.15 lakh in the wee hours of Wednesday evening. The family members shouted for help, due to which three of the robbers fled away, but two of them were held. A case has been registered at the Kannad city police station. Trader Jaikumar Vardhaman Jain lives with his family in Khandsari area. He has a building material shop on the ground floor, and they live on the upper floor. His father Vardhaman and one other person Babu Chavan (Saatkund), were sitting in the shop on Wednesday evening. One of their acquaintance Shaikh Bilal Shaikh Kadar (Galle Borgaon), came there with four other unknown persons. One of these persons took out a knife and threatened Jain demanding Rs 10 lakh. Meanwhile, Jaikumar and his son Divyansh came down and were going towards Vardhaman Jain, but the persons threatened them with a knife. His mother and wife also came down. The robbers then snatched the gold chain from the neck of his mother, amounting to Rs 80,000. As the family members started shouting, the nearby residents began gathering. The robbers started running but took away two mobile phones worth Rs 5,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively. Jaikumar immediately informed the rural police on the phone. The police plunged into action, chased the robbers, and arrested Wasim Hakomoddin Khan (Hussain Colony and Fayyaz Bashir Pathan (Baijipura, Aurangabad). At the same time, the other three managed to escape from the scene. A case has been registered while PSI Bhushan Sonar is further investigating the case. Both the arrested have been remanded in police custody till June 21.
