Further decline in edible oil prices

Aurangabad, Jan 24: Prices of cottonseed, soybean and palm oil declined by Rs 2 to Rs 10 per litre in the last few days. However, in the vegetable market, the price of garlic went up by Rs 50 per kg. With the onset of summer, unripe mangoes arrived from Hyderabad.

Consumers were relieved by the slowdown in edible oil prices over the past two weeks as prices had skyrocketed. Currently, cottonseed and soybean oil are the top sellers. Last week, cottonseed oil price fell by Rs 10 and was sold between Rs 110 to Rs 114 per litre. Soybean oil prices have come down by Rs 4 to 5 and is sold between Rs 116 to Rs 120, while palm oil has come down by Rs 2 to Rs 4 and is priced at Rs 108 to Rs 110 per litre. Sunflower oil is being sold at Rs 135 and peanut oil prices remained stable at Rs 160 per litre. The arrival of new safflower will start at the end of February, which keeps the price of safflower oil stable at Rs 180. Last week, unripe mangoes started arriving in the vegetable market from Hyderabad. Consumers are buying them at Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg. Old hybrid garlic prices rose by Rs 50 to Rs 150-200 per kg. It will take another month for the garlic to hit the market.
