Gas generation project hampers due to lack of electricity

Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) have superseded the other cities in the city by establishing a solid waste management project in the city. However, the AMC is not getting the expected cooperation from the other government agencies to facilitate the project. The administration has initiated a project to generate gas from 30 tons of garbage at Kanchanwadi. The project has been established completely but could not be operated for the past 10 months due to lack of electricity connection.

The city faced a severe garbage crisis, two years back. Later, the administration established waste management projects at Chikalthana, Harsul and Padegaon with the capacity of processing 1.5 tons garbage each. However, only the project at Chikalthana is operated presently and the Padegaon project will be started soon. Similarly, a gas generation project was established at Kanchanwadi to process around 40 tons garbage produced from the city hotels and markets. However, there is no electricity connection here until now. Guardian minister, Subhash Desai visited the projects, a few months back and he was informed that the work is in the final stage. However, the project was not operated for the past 10 months due to lack of electricity connection.
