GMCH starts audit of CCTV cameras

The administration of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) started the audit of installed closed-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras.

The then medical superintendent Dr Shivaji Sukre brought the Government hospital under surveillance by installing CCTV cameras in the office.

Dr P L Gattani who was appointed the medical superintendent after him, installed cameras in Casual and some other departments. He increased the number of cameras gradually.

Currently, there are 350 cameras. Nobody saw whether the cameras are working or faulty. The administration woke up to see the condition of cameras when the incident of misbehaving with a lady resident doctor was reported recently. The GMCH checking of the installed cameras.

Deputy dean Dr Bharat Sonawne said that audit of 350 cameras being done. It appears that there is stress on installing cameras on the premises but not on their maintenance.
