Govt to pay salary to 28 Bamu teachers

Aurangabad, March 1:

The State Government will pay the salary of 28 teachers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (BAMU) henceforth.

It may be noted that 30 teachers were recruited in different departments of the university from 2005 to 2009 during the tenure of the then vice-chancellor Dr Nagnath Kottapalle. The university has taken the responsibility of paying their salary from its fund than from the Government.

With the crunch of fund, the university requested the Government to pay their salary regularly. But, the Government delayed as there objections from certain unions. The Government decided to pay 28 teachers salary from January 2015 while two have left the job. The university spent Rs 12 crore during the last five years from its reserved fund.

The teachers were included in HTE-Sevarth system as per the circular issued on February 10, 2021 by the higher education department. President of Swabhimani MUPTA Dr Shankar Ambhore took objection to the circular stating that the university flouting constitution reservation norms while filling the posts.
