HC directs for not taking positive action

Aurangabad division bench of Bombay High Court comprising Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice Shrikant D Kulkarni recently issued an interim order for not taking any positive action in the cancelation of sports validity certificate case.

Sports and Youth Service, Aurangabad department’s deputy director had given orders to cancel the sports validity certificate of 258 sportsmen of Trampoline and Tabling sports competition.

The order was given on the basis of the letter issued by the honorary secretary of Maharashtra Amateur Trampoline Association on September 4, 2020 stating that the above-mentioned sportsmen had not participated in the competition and the association has not issued any certificate or affidavit in this regard. This report was submitted to the deputy commissioner, Sports and Youth Service department, Government of Maharashtra, Pune. In the concerned case, 32 sportsmen gained government and semi-government jobs in 5 percent reserved quota through competitive examination. Many of them have completed two years'' service.

The sportsmen, including Sachin Baliram Tawar, Sandeep Pandurang More and Arun Shrikant Jadhav submitted petitions in the division bench against the order through Adv N L Jadhav. The hearing on the petitions were held on September 30 and the bench issued the aforesaid order. The next hearing will be on October 14.

Adv Narsingh Jadhav and Adv Rakesh Brahmankar appeared for the petitioner and A A Jagatkar for the government.
