Inquiry committee constituted against Civil Surgeon after complaint by staff nurse

Aurangabad, March 16:

Deputy Director (Health) Dr Swapnil Lade today informed that an inquiry committee has constituted in connection with the allegation levelled by a staff nurse against the district civil surgeon Dr Sunder Kulkarni. He is accused of forcing a Covid-19 positive staff nurse to leave the District Civil Hospital (DCH) during the midnight hours two days ago.

The name of the staff nurse, who is undergoing Covid-19 treatment, is Janabai Munde. In a complaint to the health minister Rajesh Tope, her husband stated that the civil surgeon said to the Coronavirus infected nurse, " With whose order you had done the antigen test. I will suspend the personnel who had done the test. Mind well, nothing is done in the hospital without my permission. You immediately leave the hospital now."

Meanwhile, the Aurangabad Chapter of Maharashtra State Nurses Association has today submitted a memorandum to the divisional commissioner Sunil Kendrekar and demanded strict action, including suspension of the civil surgeon for his behaviour. The memorandum was duly signed by local president Kusum Bhalerao, secretary Anuja Sawargave, S N Thorat, Vijayshri Kondewar, Kokila Deshmukh and others.

It may be noted that the civil surgeon has clarified that he had not spoken anything like this. Hence the inquiry report will reveal whether the complaint was genuine or not?
