Interviews for MUHS VC’s post postponed; 5 candidates from M’wada in race

Aurangabad, April 19:

The interviews for the post of vice-chancellor of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) were postponed because of COVID spread across the State.

The term of current vice-chancellor Dr Dilip Mhaisekar was over. Maharashtra Governor and chancellor of the universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari appointed a three-member committee to shortlist the candidates.

The applications were invited from eligible candidates from across the country for the post in March. A total of 35 medical professionals applied while 30 were shortlisted for the interview.

Of them, five are from Marathwada region. Among them, two are from Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The call letters were issued to the candidates and the interviews were to be held on April 24 and 25.

However, the interviews were postponed because of the rise in COVID patient’s strength and travel restrictions to out of State candidates.

The nodal officer of All India Institute of Medical Science, Dr Sanjeev Lalwani issued the letter of postponing the interviews of the candidates till further.
