Lack of coordination resulting in disputes in GMCH

Aurangabad, April 2:

With the increase in patients in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), the disputes between patients, relatives and doctors are also increasing due to lack of coordination. In one such incident, the dialysis reports of a 70-year-old veteran with corona patients undergoing treatment at GMCH were delayed by three days. The reports were released after the intervention of the relatives.

The patient was admitted to ward eight in the medicine department on Tuesday. He had undergone three dialysis sessions. The next dialysis was to be decided after receiving the test report from the laboratory. However, no reports were received despite waiting three days. The relatives enquired with the staff. But unable to get a satisfactory answer, the relatives reached the office of the medical superintendent. Still, there was no clue of the reports. Hence the lab technician made a second report and handed it over to the doctors in the ward. Surprisingly, a doctor treating the patient informed that the report had arrived the previous day and the patient was being treated properly. Hence the relatives were relieved. Sources said that although the treatment of all patients is being done in a proper manner, there are cases of escalation and disputes due to a lack of proper coordination and communication.

Timely delivery of reports

According to sources, many relatives and patients face similar situation due to a lack of coordination among the staff and doctors. The relatives demanded that there should be arrangements for the timely delivery of various test reports from the laboratory to the ward and coordination between the laboratory and the doctors in the ward.
