Land acquisition at Bramgavhan need Rs 250 crores

Aurangabad, Feb 7:

Around Rs 250 crores will be required for the acquisition of the land in the Paithan tehsil for the ambitious Bramhagavhan irrigation scheme phase two. After the permission of the court, the procedure to acquire land has started now. Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday informed that the preparations for the scheme has started at the administrative level.

A meeting chaired by the president of the acquisition committee and district collector will be held soon in which the senior engineers and officers of the concerned departments will be present, the sources informed. In all, 110 hectares land will be acquired as per the 2013 land acquisition Act. The compensation will be paid to the farmers per acres for which a survey will be conducted soon.

The decisions for the second phase of the scheme were not taken rapidly in the past ten years. Similarly, the funds required for the acquisition was not made available. However, the work has not gained momentum in the past few years and not even the survey was done.

The initial estimation of the scheme was Rs 225 crores which has increased to Rs 702 crores in the past ten years. The price has increased as the work was done with snail’s pace.
