Lightning strike on power line in Waluj

Cidco Walujmahanagar to Tisgaon Chowk area was plunged into darkness for five hours due to a lightning strike on a high voltage 33 KV power line on Friday afternoon. After the power outage, MSEDCL officials and employees carried out repair work on war footing and restored the supply late at night.

Heavy rains lashed parts of Waluj and the city on Friday afternoon with thunderstorms. Meanwhile, a 33 kV high-pressure power line of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) at Tisgaon Chowk was struck by lightning at 4 pm. As a result, an insulator malfunctioned, and power supply to Cidco-Waluj, Tisgaon, South City, half of Pandharpur was disrupted. There are about 15,000 electricity consumers in this area, and they had to stay in darkness for about 5 hours due to power outage. Deputy engineer Prashant Todkar, S S Ukhande and staff inspected the power line and found that the power supply was disrupted due to a lightning strike. The insulator was immediately repaired. However, due to the darkness, the employees faced problems in repair work. Cidco Walujmahanagar substation includes Tisgaon, Mhada Colony, Cidco, South City and Pandharpur. Todkar said that the power supply was restored after the repair work was completed at around 9 pm.
