Man making counterfeit currency gets RI and Rs 50K fine

Aurangabad, Feb 26:

The session judge, S M Bhosale, on Friday sentenced the accused of the counterfeit currency case Majid Khan Bismillah Khan (Baijipura) to 8 years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine under three various sections.

ACP of the crime branch, Rameshwar Thorat, PI Madhukar Sawant, API Rahul Rode and others arrested accused Majid Khan on May 19, 2017, and seized scanner, printer, and 213 counterfeit currencies of Rs 2000 denominations, 152 Rs 500 denominations and 93 Rs 100 denominations along with 4 Rs 2000 original notes and 30 Rs 500 notes. The police also seized an identity card with press written on it, mobile phone, 78 bond papers and other articles, all amounting Rs 33,811. The accused demonstrated the procedure of making fake currency to the police. A case was registered at the Jinsi police station in this regard.

During the hearing, the assistant public prosecutor Satish Mundwadkar examined five witnesses. The court after the argument sentenced the accused to eight years rigorous imprisonment and Rs 50,000 fine under various sections of IPC. Bhimrao Ghuge worked as court officer.
