Massive police bandobast deployed for lockdown

Aurangabad, March 30:

Lockdown will begin in the city and district from Wednesday morning to prevent corona infection. About 1,500 police personnel will be deployed in the city round the clock to enforce the lockdown. In addition, 1,200 officers and staff are deployed in rural areas.

In view of the increasing number of corona patients in Aurangabad city and rural areas, the administration has called for a lockdown from midnight on Tuesday to April 9. No citizen will be allowed to leave the house without permission during this period. The administration appealed to every citizen to observe the lockdown to break the chain of coronavirus. The police administration has made adequate preparations for the 10-day lockdown. There will be 62 check posts within the limits of the police commissionerate. One police officer, eight to ten personnel are being deployed at each post. Officers and staff of various branches will be deployed as a reserve striking force. The Riot Control Police (RCP) along with the assistant commissioner of police, Cidco, City Chowk and Osmanpura branch, along with 4 four-wheelers and 34 two-wheelers will be on patrol within the jurisdiction of each police station. The 9 PCR cars of the police control room will be on patrol day and night, said ACP Ashok Bankar.

Preparation of rural police

The rural police have geared up for strict implementation of lockdown. In all 1,200 officers and staff of the available police force (75 per cent) have been posted on bandobast. The lockdown will be implemented in the jurisdiction of 23 police stations in the district. Gram Suraksha Samiti has been set up in each village. Additional superintendent of police Gorakh Bhamre, four DySPs and other officers will be on patrol in the district.

Corona infection is currently on the rise. If this infection spreads further, medical facilities will not be available to the patients. Hence a lockdown has been imposed from midnight of March 30. Citizens should stay at home and cooperate with the police, said superintendent of police (rural) Mokshada Patil.
