Measurement for the runway expansion begins

In all, 182 acres have been acquired for the expansion of the runway at the Chikalthana Airport. The measurement and marking for the expansion has begun now. The land record department is doing the measurement through the modern equipment. Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd deposited Rs 3.51 lakh with the land record department for the measurement. The measurement is being done at gut nos. 13, 15, 16, 18, 26, 27 in Mukundwadi, gut nos. 34, 30 and 31 in Murtuzapur and 410, 414, 415, 416 and 555 in Chikalthana. The actual marking will be done after the measurement.

The present length of the runway is 9,300 feet (2,835 metres). In all, 12,000 feet runway will be expanded, for which 2700 feet land will have to be acquired. In the first phase, 155 acres, 3.5 acres in the second phase, two acres in the third phase and 20 acres in fourth phase, a total of 182 acres will be acquired.

Meanwhile, the land record office will be measure the land collectively after the 7/12 abstract is obtained to the office. 825 metres long runway will be constructed, for which huge money will be required. However, there is no clarity about the compensation to be pad for the land to the beneficiaries. No decision has been taken in this regard, the sources said.
