Merger of 74 secondary teachers lands in controversy

Aurangabad, June 29:

The merger of 74 teachers from 55 Zilla Parishad (ZP) has landed in controversy.

The merger process was halted on Tuesday after the chairman of the Education Committee, Avinash Galande, took an objection.

It may be noted that the staffing pattern for ZP secondary schools was approved for the academic year 2018-19. A total of 74 teachers were declared excess. They would be accommodated on vacant posts. The Education Department decided to implement an online merger process on Tuesday as per the directives of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Mangesh Gondavale. All the bloc education officers were informed about it. Meanwhile, the chairman of the education committee Avinash Galande took an objection about the process.

In his complaint, he stated that the process should be implemented as per the staffing pattern of 2020-21. “Teachers should be given details about vacant posts in the district,” he said in the complaint.

The Education Department was to undertake the tehsil-wise merger process of teachers. The ZP CEO will fix the next date of the merger process.

Education officer S P Jaiswal said that the merger process was halted because of the schools hearing on Tuesday.
