Aurangabad, May 20:

Members of Maharashtra English School Trustees Association (MESTA) decided to knock on the door of court against the Government orders to reduce the fee refund of students admitted under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

MESTA president Sanjayrao Tayade Patil on Thursday said that 25 per cent reserved in English private schools for the economically and socially backward class of society under RTE Act.

“The respective State Government refunds fee of each student.

The Directorate of Education had fixed a fee refund of Rs 17,670 for reach student for the academic year 2019-20 while for the academic year 2020-21, it was fixed at Rs 8,000,” he said

The Directorate of Education reduced the fee refund by more than 50 per cent.

Sanjayrao Tayade Patil said that the Government is trying to put English schools in financial trouble.

“The refund of RTE is under the purview of Central Government. The State Government cannot interfere in it. There was a provision of Rs 1850 crore for the fee refund, while the education department sought Rs 200 for the State. The Finance Department sanctioned just Rs 50 crore. A conspiracy is being hatched to cause financial loss to the English schools,” he added.
