MP Imtiaz Jaleel renominated on Urban Development Committee

The MP, Imtiaz Jaleel, has been renominated on the central government’s standing committee on Urban Development for another year.

The committee holds significant importance in taking decisions related to urban affairs. Earlier, the MP, in his first year, was nominated on the union government''s Urban Development Committee and the Civil Aviation Committee. The tenure of both these crucial committees was of one year. Hence after the end of the term, the members are nominated on other committees.

In the recently concluding Lok Sabha session, the MP had requested the speaker to extend his term in the UD Committee. He said that it would enable him to take up issues of his constituency (Aurangabad) relating to water supply, sanitation, urban transport and Smart City project, as all of them come under the purview of the UD committee.

Jaleel had also raised the issue of water in the Lok Sabha session. He had earlier raised the issue of water supply in Aurangabad city after which the Urban Development Secretary to the Government of India (GoI) was asked to coordinate with the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra to redress the issue.
