MP Vikhe lands in trouble, may face prosecution

Aurangabad, April 27: The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court will hear on April 29 a public interest litigation (PIL) against BJP MP from Ahmednagar Dr Sujay Vikhe directing the police to investigate into the procurement of alleged 10,000 vials of life saving Remdesivir injections.

The PIL is filed by social activists Arun Kadu, Balasaheb Vikhe, Dadasaheb Pawar and Gagare in the Aurangabad bench seeking criminal proceedings against the MP for unauthorised possession of the life saving injection particularly when it was being black marketed and for revealing the source of its procurement and also the authenticity of the medicines.

MP Vikhe shared a video on social media recently. The video was recorded in a plane and it was also shown that packed cartons were being unloaded from the plane. He claimed that the consignment was brought on April 19. Later, he made fun of the ministers from the district and advised them to use “hafta” collected money to help the Covid patients. He had also informed that he distributed the vials to the Shirdi Devasthan Hospital and also to the government hospitals in some tehsils.

In the video the MP had claimed that he spent over Rs 15 lakh for a private plane to bring the injections from Delhi for the aid of the Covid patients. Meanwhile, NCP leader and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that everyone must follow the protocols. “Even if you are an elected public representative you cannot override the protocols by having unauthorised stock of the injection when the nation is facing its acute shortage”, added the deputy CM.

In another development NCP leader Rupali Chakankar has raised the questions on the authenticity of the boxes and the injections. She claimed that it must be hoax exercise to mislead the people. No one knows what was there in the boxes. There is no proof how many and what was distributed by the BJP MP Vikhe, she added.

It may be recalled that in a similar move, BJP leader Gautam Gambhir was distributing Fabiflu tablets at his bungalow in Delhi when the drug was not available in the city. The former cricketer and now BJP leader had asked people to come with Aadhaar cards and prescriptions to collect free medicine from him. The beneficiaries claimed that the drug was not available in the market.
