New academic year beginning from June 15; decision to reopen schools awaited

Aurangabad, June 13:

All eyes are towards the district administration's decision about the schools reopening since the new academic year will begin on June 15.

It may be noted that all restrictions were lifted from the city as it falls under ‘Level-I.’ There are still restrictions in the rural areas which are under ‘Level-III.’

Life is returning to normalcy in the city by lifting the restrictions. However, no decision was taken about the schools of the district yet. The new academic year will commence on June 15.

There are 3,270 primary schools with 5.13 lakh, 949 secondary schools with 3.91 lakh and 157 junior colleges with 54,517. This means there are 4,376 schools from first to 12th in the district with 9.53 lakh students. It includes Zilla Parishad, private aided and non-aided.

The schools and junior colleges have 20,000 teachers. Schools from the eighth to 12th standard were reopened for some days during the last one and half years. But, they were shut down later.

Students and parents fed up with online education are curious about actual classes while there is also some fear of the third wave of a pandemic virus.

All eyes are toward what decision the district administration takes about the schools.

The schools from the district are closed. In a circular issued by the education department, the ZP teachers were called to join the headquarter and conduct online education as the academic year is beginning from June 15.

In a circular, the work responsibilities of teachers, school management, education and school committees, gram panchayat and local administration were fixed.

It also contains instruction for online and actual classes.

Education officer (primary) Surajprasad Jaiswal said that the files about reopening the schools from June 15 would be sent to the district collector through the chief executive officer of ZP.

“The district administration will only take a decision about the reopening the schools.

No decision was yet taken. But, schools were instructed to take measures to reopen the schools. The instructions to be issued by the district administration will be implemented,” he added.
