No need for affidavits on stamp paper

Aurangabad, July 23:

The use of stamp paper on affidavits to be filed for applications before government offices and courts, including for caste, income, residency and nationality certificate, has been waived as per the gazette of 2004. The stamp department has informed that there is no need to use bond-stamp paper anywhere in Aurangabad, Jalna and Beed districts.

Stamp paper is widely used in court, sale deed registration and Setu Suvidha Kendra. Despite the government saying from time to time that there is no need for the stamp papers, the stamp papers are widely used without any necessity. Meanwhile, the director of Aurangabad Setu Suvidha said that every year 10,000 to 12,000 different certificates are distributed from the centre. At present, instead of affidavits, self-declarations are being taken from students and citizens. Stamp paper is not used. It is seen that stamp paper is being used for notarisation and other affidavits in the registration and stamps office premises.

Deputy inspector general of registration Soham Wayal has issued a press release in this regard. In it, he said, students have to get different certificates for school work. That includes caste, income, residence, nationality, non-creamy layer and other certificates from Setu Suvidha kendra. As per the 2004 order, the government has waived the stamp duty of Rs. 100 charged to students for affidavit in any government office and before a court. A gazette has also been published in this regard. The collector has informed the stamp sellers in Aurangabad, Beed and Jalna. Hence nobody must demand for affidavits on stamp paper.
