Not all COVID patients need ‘Remdesivir’ ; 80 pc recover without this injection

Aurangabad, April 14:

The health machinery made it clear that not all COVID patients should be administered the antiviral drug ‘Remdesivir.’

It may be noted that the antiviral drug is being given to all the pandemic patients. Some times patients’ relatives insist while even health staff circles have differences over administering the injection to the patients.

‘Remedesivir’ is considered a very effective injection for COVID treatment. There is a shortage of the drug across the State, and relatives struggle to buy it for their patients.

There is no scarcity of injection in the city. However, in many cases, relatives were seen insisting on giving the drug to their patients even though doctors do not want it.

Some doctors are advising the injecting considering HRCT score.

Health experts feel that 80 per cent of patients are recovering without this injection. Doctors said that ‘Remdesivir’ is useful for patients whose oxygen level is very low.

District civil surgeon Dr S V Kulkarni said that there are clear instructions over which patients should be given this injection. The relatives should not insist on administering the injection without the doctors' advice.

Who should be given tablets?

HRCT score- 0 to seven (no need of Remdesivir)

HRCT score-eight to 14 (66 Fabi flu tables be given for seven days)

Who should be given injection of Remdesivir?

--Patient with oxygen level below 94

--Patient with HRCT score above 15

--Patients have fever for consecutive three days

--Patients is feeling much weakness
