Only serious patients to be admitted in GMCH

Aurangabad, March 13:

Due to the increase in the number of patients in the past few days, covid hospitals are facing a shortage of beds. The beds at the district civil hospital are full of patients. The GMCH also has decided to admit only critically ill patients. As a result, patients without symptoms are left to the municipal covid care centre (CCC).

The number of patients receiving treatment in the city has gone up to 4,000. Corona patients are struggling to get beds in private and government hospitals. The number of patients admitted to the district hospital rose to 272 by Saturday evening. There is an arrangement of 300 beds here, said district civil surgeon Dr Sundar Kulkarni. There are 374 patients in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). As many as 213 patients are in critical condition, while 161 patients are in normal condition. Patients come to the GMCH after the corona report is positive. As a result, it gets difficult for critically ill patients to get bed in the covid ward. Therefore, only critical patients should be referred to the GMCH, the administration has appealed.

Patients from rural areas should initially go to the district hospital. From there, the decision on where to admit the patient will be made based on the situation. Patients in need of oxygen, those who are over 60 years of age with the disease will be admitted to GMCH. Patients with no symptoms should go to the municipal CCC, said officials.
