Padegaon waste processing plant inaugurated

Aurangabad, Jan 16:

The Thackeray family had publicly apologized to the people of Aurangabad when the city's garbage problem became serious. They had promised to settle the waste issue. Their promise has been fulfilled today, said guardian minister Subhash Desai.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the solid waste processing plant at Padegaon here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Desai said that the chief minister had planned a water scheme that will provide water to the city till the year 2052. Fund of Rs 1,680 crore has been sanctioned to provide water to every house in the city. The guardian minister also appealed to the citizens to prevent throwing household waste on the streets and collect the decomposing wet waste in the garbage collecting vehicle.

The cornerstone of the solid waste plant was also unveiled. For solid waste management in the city, work on waste processing centres at Chikalthana (150 MT), Padegaon (150 MT), Naregaon (150 MT) has been completed. At Padegaon, work has been completed on processing sheds, platforms, boundary walls, leached tanks and office buildings.

Municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey informed that solid waste processing machinery had been installed at Padegaon. MLC Ambadas Danve, MLA Sanjay Shirsat, former MP Chandrakant Khaire, former mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, Vinod Ghosalkar and Renukadas Vaidya were present.
