Police implements 'nakabandi' during daytime in city

Aurangabad, Feb 9:

To curb the growing criminal activities like chain-snatching, looting, vehicle-lifting etc., the city police today resorted to 'nakabandi' in different parts of the city between 11 am and 2 pm. The key officers of police administration also participated in the action.

The commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta, deputy commissioners Nikesh Khatmode Patil and Deepak Girhe, five ACPs and city's 17 police inspectors (along with the team of their respective police station) participated in today's action. The police placed barricades at five different points in the jurisdiction of each police station. On suspicion, the police were stopping and questioning the vehicles passing through. The cops also seized vehicles when the riders were unable to submit the ownership papers.

The DCP Nikesh Khatmode Patil said, " To prevent the growing crime in the city like chain-snatching, vehicle-lifting and eve-teasing etc. the police suddenly opted for nakabandi today (on Tuesday). The police personnel were ordered to seize the vehicles plying on road without on the roadplates, bogus number plates and without any papers. The nakabandi will continue to be implemented strictly in future."
