Proposal for banishing 26 illegal alcohol sellers

Aurangabad, Jan 22:

The state excise department has sent a proposal to banish 26 people who were involved in the illegal liquor trade. Despite action, they continued to commit such crimes.

The officials of the state excise department and police take continuous action against illegal liquor dealers. During the year, an average of 1,200 complaints are filed against such dealers. In the lockdown, liquor stores and bars were closed for about four months. Hence illegal liquor and bootlegging had become rampant. State excise and police took action against several people. However, many continued to sell illegal liquor. Hence the state excise officials have decided to banish 26 such culprits. Giving more information, superintendent Sudhakar Kadam said that the department has sent proposals to banish 26 people involved in the illegal sale of liquor. Proposal for rural areas has been forwarded to the sub-divisional officer while the proposals in Aurangabad city have been forwarded to the deputy commissioner of police. The concerned authorities will hold a hearing to decided over the punishment. In some cases, their banishment is suspended on the condition that they will no longer commit such crimes. Direct action is taken against those who sell illegal liquor even after an action.
