PUC issued to vehicles parked at RTO premises

Aurangabad, Jan 6:

A shocking case came to light after three vehicles seized by the RTO office and parked in the office premises got PUC without any inspection. The RTO office has launched an inquiry into the matter.

It is mandatory for vehicles to obtain a Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUC) to keep the vehicle emissions are under control and in accordance with the pollution norms. There are 66 PUC centres in the district. It is mandatory to take the vehicle to the centre for issuance of PUC after inspection. But some have even started issuing PUC certificates to polluting vehicles without inspection. This came to light after three vehicles parked in the RTO premises were issued PUC certificates without any inspection. The RTO has taken the matter seriously and is investigating the exact manner in which the certificate was issued.

PUC from Jalna, Beed

It has also been learned that PUC certificate can be easily obtained from Jalna, Beed if the number plate of the vehicle is sent to the PUC centre. Getting a certificate without any check is also contributing to the increase in pollution.

License will be revoked

The office has received information that PUC certificates of three vehicles seized at the RTO office have been issued. The concerned PUC centre is being investigated in this regard. If the centre is found guilty, the license of the centre will be revoked said, regional transport officer Sanjay Metrewar.
