Racket cheating marriageable grooms busted

The Mukundwadi police on Monday arrested a bride, and her relatives escaped after cheating a youth of Rs 1.50 lakh and jewellery by conducting a false marriage in a temple. It was found that this gang used to search marriage aspirant youths and dupe them by conducting false marriages and flee away with cash and valuables. The kingpin of the racket is Savita Radhakisan Male, and her accomplices are Sangeeta Vishwanath Vaidya, Archana Devidas Dhakne, Puja Ajay Rajput and Ravi Tejrao Rathod. The police arrested all the accused.

According to the details, Ganesh Bhausaheb Pawar (27, Karegaon, Shrirampur), a marriage aspirant, was in search of a bride. Savita called his sister-in-law two months back and suggested two-three brides for marriage. She also sent photographs and aadhar cards of some girls to her, of which the Pawar family selected Archana Shinde for wedding.

Savita sent a forged school leaving certificate of Archana to them on WhatsApp. She then asked the Pawar family to pay Rs 1.5 lakh to the bride’s family and jewellery for the bride. The bridegroom accepted the offer. Due to the Corona crisis, it was decided to conduct the marriage without any grandeur and hence Savita called the marriage party to Aurangabad on Sunday.

The false marriage was conducted in the presence of the relatives of bride and groom at Navnath Temple at Kumbhephal. Ganesh’s brother paid Rs 1.5 lakh and jewellery. However, the bride and her fake relatives fled away from the temple.

When the Pawar family noticed that they have been cheated, they rushed to the Mukundwadi police station and lodged a complaint. PI, Sudhakar Bavkar, PSI Sunil Chavan, Amol Maskhe, Babasaheb Kamble, Santosh Bhanuse, Vilas Mutthe, Manohar Gite and lady constable Kundkar searched for the accused and arrested them on Monday. It was found that this gang has cheated around ten such marriage aspirants so far. The police also seize documents of several girls from them.
