Rural sector in district on verge of 'unlocking' soon

Aurangabad, June 18:

The positivity rate of active patients, as well as occupancy of oxygen beds in the district, was 2.94 percent and 6.81 pc during the last week. The improvement in the situation indicates that the total district has now come under Level I. Accordingly, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) after reviewing the situation would soon announce unlocking of the situation in the rural sector of the district, said the sources.

As reported earlier, the rural sector of the district was in Level III when it was last reviewed on June 6. The positivity was 5.46 percent and occupancy of oxygen beds was 20.34 pc. On the other hand, the urban sector's positivity was 2.24 pc, and occupancy of oxygen beds was 22.19 pc. Hence, the urban sector was unlocked from June 7, while the restrictions continued to remain applicable in the rural sector.

In the past two weeks, there is a drop in the active patients as well the spreading of infection is also under control. There is a huge improvement in the situation. Hence the DDMA will soon hold a meeting and announce the relaxation reviewing the situation.

The positivity rate and occupancy of oxygen beds mentioned in the order issued on June 17 under the ' Break the Chain' stated that there is the availability of 4,021 oxygen beds, out of which, 274 are occupied and 3,747 are vacant. Hence the oxygen bed occupancy is 6.81 pc. Besides, 26,972 testings were done during the last week, out of which, 793 were detected as Coronavirus infected. The positivity is 2.94 pc. It is also learnt that 145 ventilator beds were occupied and 277 were lying vacant in the last 10 days.
