Safety equipment at 51 health centres in bad state

Aurangabad, Jan 17:

The safety systems at the 51 primary health centres in the district are in worst condition. The fire extinguishing machines are lying in the dust and the electric wires are in a wear and tear state at many places. These safety equipment have not been checked for years now.

There are 51 primary health centres in the district but the safety measures here are completely ignored. After the fire incident at Bhandara, the issue at safety in the hospitals has once again come to the fore. The government has given the orders to conduct the fire and electricity audit of all the hospitals. Measures are being taken at the big hospitals in the urban areas but in the rural areas the situation is still apathetic. Moreover, primary health centres are completely ignored.

Meanwhile, district health officer, Dr Sudhakar Shelke said the fire and electricity audit of the centres will be conducted soon. Earlier, such audit was conducted at some places. A letter in this regard will be issued on Monday, he said.

Aurangabad tehsil has 6 primary health centres, Kannad 9, Gangapur 6, Khuldabad 3, Paithan 7, Sillod 6, Phulambri 5, Soyegaon 3 and Vaijapur 6 in the district.
