SANKALP to be implemented at Marathwada Auto Cluster

Aurangabad, Feb 7:

To implement the project Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP), ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship has appointed Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) as implementing agency. SANKALP is piloted for the first time in India at Marathwada Auto Cluster (MAC), Aurangabad. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is supporting ASDC in implementing the project SANKALP at Aurangabad.

The MAC under the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS) has come forward to fulfil the objectives of the SANKALP scheme in the region and MOU between ASDC and MAC has been signed on January 15. Training of Trainer (ToT) based project is beneficial to improve skills and upgrade knowledge of trainers. It will support to make a career as a trainer to the existing personal trainers, personals, retired personals, training partners, institutes and industries etc. As per the guidelines, MAC will provide 1-month theory training with master trainers from ASDC and German experts from GIZ. Also, MAC will arrange on the job training to the trainee in various industries for 2 months. During the on-job training, the stipend will be paid to the participants for 2 months as per project SANKALP.

What is SANKALP

There is currently a mismatch in certain areas between the skills that the industry requires and those possessed by the youth in our country. Hence, the Indian automotive sector may face a huge void if the structured reforms and initiatives are not taken to bridge the skilled workforce's demand-supply mismatch. To avoid this situation and improve skills of existing workforce Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship introduced Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP).

Training in the following subjects

CNC programming and operations, advanced welding technology, robotic technology and operations are identified for training as a need for industries in the Aurangabad. These training will help the Aurangabad region enhance the ecosystem of skill training and meet the growing demands of skill across the region. Trainees will be awarded a certified trainer certificate from ASDC, GIZ, and MAC in the convocation ceremony after completing the training.
