Aurangabad, Jan 4:

The secondary schools of the city were abuzz with students again on Monday after a gap of 10 months.

All the schools were shut down in the district with the spread of Novel coronavirus in March. The Government granted permission to reopen the junior colleges and secondary schools from November 23 provided all COVID measure are implemented.

The local administration was entitled to take a final decision on schools reopening. The administrator of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation postponed the attendance of students of classes 9th and ten up to January 3, taking into consideration of the pandemic situation.

As the number of patients has come down in the city, permission was given to reopen 9th and 10 classes.

There are 361 secondary schools and junior colleges, while 358 of them were reopened. The schools have 78,000 students admission and out of them, 23,516 came today to attend the classes.

No student was allowed without mask and consent letter of parents. Students were examined with a thermal gun and sanitiser was sprayed on their hands. Education officer (secondary) Dr B B Chavan said that there are 762 schools with 2.67 lakh students in rural areas. Of them, 64,372 were present.

He said that the pandemic test of 2,537 teaches and 1525 employees of the schools were conducted. A total of three teachers and two employees were found COVID positive.

The HSC classes stated on November 23 in rural areas while in the city, it was on December 15.

Classes of 9th and 10 commence from today. The disinfectant was spread in the schools on Sunday. There was a rush of students and parents at the schools'' entrance.
