Shetkari Sanghatana demands cancellation of 9th Schedule

Aurangabad, June 16:

The Shetkari Sanghatana has demanded to cancel the ninth Schedule, included in the Indian Constitution by the first amendment. A memorandum in this regard will be sent to the prime minister through the district collector on June 18, 2021, informed the president of the Sanghatana Anil Ghanwat. He said the ninth Schedule was included in the constitution on June 18, 1951 through the first amendment to eradicate the Zamindari system from India. There is a provision in this Schedule that the action taken under this Schedule or any other law could not be challenged in the court. The fundamental rights of the farmers had hampered due to this Schedule, while the farmers have no rights to increase their business due to the minimum land holding Act. Shetkari Sanghatana, under the leadership of Sharad Joshi, had brought this fact to the fore on several occasions. Former Shetkari Sanghatana president Late Ravi Dabang burnt the ninth Schedule and demanded to impose the original constitution drafted by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
