Stamp duty slashed by 2 per cent till Mar 31

Aurangabad, March 23:

The state government had given a deadline of December 31 to get a 3 per cent reduction in stamp duty. Thereafter, till March 31, homebuyers will get a reduction of two per cent in stamp duty fees. The benefit of this scheme can be availed by the buyers and sellers for up to four months. Hence a 4 per cent stamp duty and a 1 per cent registration charge will be applicable in urban areas and a 3 per cent stamp duty and 1 per cent registration charge will be applicable in rural areas.

For this, stamp duty has to be paid by March 31 and the execution has to be confirmed. The buyers and sellers can then complete the next process anytime within 4 months. Therefore, it is possible to get benefit if the stamp duty is paid before the deadline, explained deputy inspector general of registration and deputy registrar Soham Wayal. However, the officials appealed that taking into view the Covid-19 the citizens must avoid crowding at the registration office and pay the stamp duty online.
