Start subsistence allowance for children who have lost their parents: MLC Chavan

Aurangabad, May 28:

Many children have been orphaned due to the death of their parents due to covid. In a statement to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, MLC Satish Chavan has demanded that the government should provide free education to these orphans who have lost their parents and also start a subsistence allowance of Rs 3000 every month.

In a statement, he said that the government of Uttarakhand, Delhi has started a subsistence allowance for orphans who have lost their parents due to covid. The Uttarakhand government has recently announced a Vatsalya Yojana under which such orphans will be given a subsistence allowance of Rs 3,000 per month till they reach the age of 21. The Delhi government has also started a similar scheme. On the same lines, a subsistence allowance of Rs 3,000 should be given in Maharashtra as well. Today these children are worried about their future and if we do not lend a helping hand to these orphans, these children will go into depression.
