Students upset over delay in 11th admission process

Hundreds of students from the city are upset over delay in the resumption of the 11th standard admission process.

As reported earlier by this newspaper, the online admission process for the first year of junior college began from August 1 for the academic year 2020-21 after the declaration of the SSC result.

Around 24,989 students registered for 31,565 seats in 116 colleges within the jurisdiction of the city in August. Of them, 19,359 confirmed the application form. A total of 8,749 candidates were selected for the first Centralised Admission Process (CAP) round while 6,100 of them were admitted.

The merit list for the second CAP round was to be released on September 10. However, the Education Department announced the postponement of admission in the late evening of September 9 until further orders due to Supreme Court judgment in Maratha reservation case. It also said that further timetable for the 11th online admission process would be declared after the Government approval.

The Department did not resume the admission process for nearly a month, creating confusing among students. When contacted, officers of the Department said that they had not received instructions from the Government for re-starting the admission process so far.
