Surgeries done under Govt scheme in pvt hospitals stopped

Aurangabad, April 1:

The facility of doing 120 types of surgeries at private hospitals under the State Government's scheme was stopped causing inconvenience to patients.

It may be noted that these types of surgeries are carried out in Government hospitals under Jan Arogya Yojana. The State Government gave permission to conduct the surgeries at private hospitals on May 23, 2020 because of COVID spread. The hospitals were getting surgery charges from the insurance company and the Government under the scheme.

Facility for different surgeries including thyroid, hernia’ was stopped at private hospitals from March 31, as per the Government orders.

So, the patients will have to approach Government hospitals for the surgeries or pay charges in private hospitals. Most of the private hospitals from the city were providing COVID treatment, therefore, rural patients were giving preference for surgery at tehsil level private hospital under the scheme.

President of Marathwada Hospital Association Dr Himanshu Gupta, demanded that permission be given for the surgeries that can be done at private hospitals easily.

“The facility of surgeries at private hospitals was stopped.

This means that the surgeries will be done only at Government hospitals. In the government orders, it was stated that the decision was taken so that private hospitals which are giving treatment to pandemic patients should not face a problem,” he added.

District coordinator of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana Dr Milind Joshi said that now the surgeries would be carried out at Government Hospitals under the scheme.
