Thieves broke in house of industrialist couple, but failed to steal

Aurangabad, Feb 24:

Thieves broke into a house of an industrialist couple at Pratapnagar in Osmanpura area but failed to steal the box containing around 100 tolas of gold and Rs 10 lakh cash. They had to return empty handed. The incident was unveiled on Wednesday morning. Earlier, it was feared that the thieves had stolen 100 tolas of Gold jewellery and around Rs 10 lakh cash.

According to the details, industrialist, Jayant Soni and Dr Sushma Jain Soni lives with their two daughters at Pratapnagar area. Dr Shushma had gone to Tirupati for the treatment of her daughter while Jayant Soni went there on February 23. Their servant Imran Mirza had the key of the gate of the bungalow for the cleaning of the bungalow and the car. Imran went to the bungalow at around 10.30 today. He found that the door of the bungalow was opened and he suspected that the bungalow has been burgled. He immediately informed about it to the Soni couple on phone.

As the amount told was much bigger, CP Dr Nikhil Gupta, DCP Nikesh Khatmode Patil, DCP Deepak Girhe, ACP Ravindra Salokhe, PI Avinash Aghav, Surendra Malale, Dilip Tare, API Ghansham Sonawane, Manoj Shinde and other rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, Dr Soni sent her friend to the house and asked her to inspect the box where the jewellery and cash was kept. The inspection of the bungalow was done in the presence of CP Dr Gupta. All the cupboards and the cash were intact. The thieves could not reach the valuables in the bungalow and hence everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

Meanwhile, DCP, Deepak Girhe, told, that even if nothing has been stolen, but a indept investigation in this matter will be done. On behalf of Dr Sushma Soni, retired DSP Naresh Meghrajani lodged a complaint at Osmanpura police station in this regard.

The thieves after entering the bungalow searched two cupboards on the upper storey, but they did not go to other rooms. There were not safety measures taken in the bungalow as there were no CCTV cameras and even the security guards.
