Work load on health centres due to vacant 336 posts

After the focus on the health sector in the union budget, the expectations to modernize the 51 health centres and 279 sub-centres in the district have flourished. However, there are 336 posts vacant in these centres due to which the work load on the present staff has increased considerably. Hence, there is an urgent need to fill the post and provide basic amenities at the earliest.

Presently, there are 1833 Asha workers in the district shouldering the responsibilities of the rural health services. All these posts are filled. However, 260 posts of the health workers (male) are sanctioned while 187 have been filled but 73 are vacant. Similarly, there are 473 posts of health workers (women), of which, 283 are filled while 190 are vacant. Apart, 20 posts of the health assistants, 2 laboratory technicians, 2 Yunani hakim, 1 health examiner are vacant.

Recently, 202 Community Health Officers (CHO) were appointed at the sub-centres in the district due to which doctors were available at the remotest places. However, there is need to provide facilities so that better health service can be provided. There are five posts of the medical officers vacant in the district and their additional charge has to be borne by the available doctors.
