Works incomplete; tenure heading towards completion

Aurangabad, July 4:

The tenure of the zilla parishad members (ZP) will terminate after eight months. The ZP members are aiming to confront the voters in the next election after completing the works. However, their ambition has been hampered due to the Corona crisis for the past one and a half years. After the a brief relief from the crisis, the possibility of the third possible Corona wave has once again paralyzed the development works. Now, the members are worried whether the works will be completed before the elections.

In the district, 108 kms roads and 410 bridges were destroyed due to heavy rains. The fund for the repairing has received, but it is inadequate. Similarly, the funds for the works proposed by the members are also very less.

The works of roads development, pilgrim places development, anganwadi, schools repairing, irrigation works from the district annual plan are pending. Now, the danger of monsoon and the Corona wave are likely to hamper these works again.

Former ZP president Devyani Dongaonkar said a camp should be organised to facilitate all the pending works. The members will have to show the works done before the elections. We are persuading the issues with the officials, but they should take it seriously, she said.

ZP president Meena Shelke said, we are planning to facilitate the pace of the pending works. The administration has been directed to complete all the pending works other than the road repairing, hampered due to rainy season. Most of the works has gained administrative sanction and the tender procedures have been completed. We are taking efforts to see that the works should be completed before the election.
