South African batsman Faf du Plessis was taken to a hospital in Abu Dhabi after colliding with Quetta Gladiators teammate Mohammad Hasnain during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 match against Peshawar Zalmi on Saturday. The incident took place during the 7th over of Peshawar’s innings. Batsman David Miller played a shot towards the long-on boundary while Faf and Hasnain both ran towards the ball. In due process, Faf’s head hit Hasnain's knee and the South African cricketer fell on the ground.

Faf left the field after getting injured and was seen sitting in the dugout. As per Pakistan media reports, he was taken to the hospital for further scans due to which he couldn’t return to the field. Du Plessis was replaced in the XI by Saim Ayub as a concussion substitute. Du Plessis lay on his back after the collision as Hasnain attended to him before the physio came out. Du Plessis took no further part in the match even as Peshawar Zalmi won by 61 runs.  Quetta Gladiators won the toss and opted to field. David Miller (73) and Kamran Akmal (59) hit half centuries as Peshawar Zalmi made 197 for 5. In reply, Quetta Gladiators suffered a middle-order collapse and despite Sarfaraz Ahmed's unbeaten 36 off 28, they were restricted to 136 for 9 in their 20 overs. PSL 2021 resumed last week after it was postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19 cases among players.
