Hours after Sunil Gavaskar's comment on Anushka and Virat went viral, the Zero actress called the legendary batsman's comments  'distasteful. '  While a section of fans and Anushka expressed their disappointment over the choice of words by the former opening batsmananother ex-Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan, has jumped to the defence of Gavaskar asking people for 'respect'.Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a huge loss to Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Thursday, with Kohli enduring one of his most disappointing outings both with the bat and in the field. During the course of the match, Gavaskar was commentating with Aakash Chopra in Hindi as Kohli came on to bat for RCB. 

The two commentators then discussed how Kohli didn't get many opportunities to practice during the lockdown, with her cricketing session at home – the video of which went viral on social media – being the only instance. Some misquoted and ill-translated comments were shared by netizens on social media that carved out a different meaning altogether of the comments made by Gavaskar, making even Anushka to post a strong-worded Instagram story for the original Little Master. As Gavaskar started being criticised all over social media, Irfan posted a subtle tweet asking those disrespecting the cricketing icon to 'always respect' him.
