U-19 World Cup-winner Manjot Kalra has been barred from participating in age-group cricket for two years. The decision was taken by DDCA’s ombudsman. Kalra, rose to limelight in the U19 World Cup final, courtesy his swashbuckling 102-ball 101- knock. Post his World Cup heroics  the left-hander was brought  up by Delhi Capitals in the 2018 auction. However, the youngster could not find a place in the team for two seasons. The Capitals management then released the player for the 2020 auction were he eventually went unsold.

Meanwhile, two Kolkata Knight Riders’ players- Nitish Rana and Shivam Mavi are also under the scanner for age fudging. Rana was one of the 22 players that the BCCI banned from playing age-group cricket for age fudging back in 2015. Shivam Mavi’s case has been referred to the BCCI. Mavi, who was one of the spearheads of India U19 World Cup-winning campaign- has played six FC games and 16 List-A matches where he has picked up a total of 47 wickets.
