The Men in Blue have been dealt with a severe blow ahead of the three match ODI series against West Indies as Shikhar Dhawan is likely to be ruled out due to a knee injury. The southpaw if reports are to be believed will be replaced by  batsman Mayank Agarwal. According to reports, names of quite a few players were discussed as possible replacements including the likes of Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill. Dhawan is yet to recover from the injury he sustained during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Mayank is yet to make his debut in the 50-over format. The youngster has been in prolific form in the traditional format having scored two double centuries and a century in his short career. Agarwal has played 79 List A matches scoring 3869 runs at an average of 50.90 with 13 centuries and 15 half-centuries with a strike rate of over 100. India is scheduled to play three ODIs against West Indies in Chennai, Visakhapatnam, and Cuttack.
