In what can be termed as a crucial blow to Bangladesh ahead of the next tour to Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has refused to visit Pakistan for the T20 series. The news was confirmed by cheif selector Minhajul Abedin. “Mushfiq(ur) rang me today to inform that he will not go to Pakistan. We are now waiting for his formal letter. Once he does that, we will leave him out of the series,” the chief selector was quoted by AFP as saying.
The decision by the former skipper is a huge blow to the visitors, who are already missing the services of ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Bangladesh are scheduled to play three Twenty20 internationals, two Tests and one one-day international in Pakistan between January and April. It's been quite some time now that teams have expressed their reservations in visiting Pakistan for cricket series in the wake of the terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore on March 2009.
